Red Chair Highland is a digital inclusion organisation based in Inverness, supporting people across the Highlands affected by poverty, isolation and digital exclusion. Older adults, people with disabilities, low income households, people in crisis, asylum seekers and refugees, and many more. A small, award winning organisation doing important work with limited time and budget, and a lot of heart.

Through the Thinking ForWord Social Gift Programme, Red Chair became our first recipient, with free access to AI built to give small organisations back the one thing they never have enough of. Time.

The challenge

Like most community organisations, Red Chair runs lean. The public ask the same questions again and again, often outside office hours. They did not need more software to learn. They needed something simple that quietly took the weight off.

Denni AI, the website assistant

An AI assistant on the Red Chair website that answers visitors' questions any time, day or night. It works in over 40 languages, takes voice as well as typing, and can read answers aloud. For anyone with limited literacy, a visual impairment, or English as a second language, that turns a chatbot into a genuine front door. It only ever answers from Red Chair's own approved content.

Built for everyone

Accessibility is not an add on here, it is standard. Voice input, text to speech and 40 plus language translation come as part of the assistant. That fits Red Chair perfectly, an organisation recognised with a Digital Inclusion Award, and it means help reaches more people, not fewer.

Having AI support on our website means people can get answers any time, in their own language. For a small team like ours, that makes a real difference.

About the Gift Programme

Thinking ForWord Social is a Scottish Community Interest Company. Through its Gift Programme it puts the same AI tools used by paying clients into the hands of charities, community groups and social enterprises, at little or no cost. Good technology should reach the organisations doing good, not just those who can afford it. Red Chair Highland is proud to be where that starts.
